Octave - Batch #2

Imperial Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels W/ Coconut and Cacao Nibs

11% ABV
Barrels: Old Forester Bourbon
Collaboration with Tap Union Freehouse
Bottled on May 20, 2018

From the Bottle:

“When we made this beer with our friends at Tap Union Freehouse, there was no way we could keep it to just one interval. Instead we took the same note, barrel aged it, added more coconut, cocoa nibs, and expanded on it, yet it’s still the same. It tastes like a smooth stand up bass and kicks like a floor tom. We took Moral Support and brought it down an octave. It has a deeper pitch but hums the same tune.”

From the Brewer:

“Some of you might remember our first collaboration beer with Tap Union (craft beer bar in Vancouver, Wa). We made an Imperial Stout with coconut and cocoa nibs. As both of our taproom’s thirsty customers were enjoying that beer, we had filled and hid away 2 bourbon barrels. When we pulled that beer out of the barrels we hit it a 2nd time with coconut and cocoa nibs to make sure we didn’t lose any of that great, adult-dessert quality.

Now I would like to say some words about Tap Union and the beer industry as a whole. Not enough is mentioned about the people who are helping shape a positive beer climate that I believe we all enjoy. We have greatly benefited from their friendship and camaraderie and everyone enjoys the spoils from these pioneers who are blazing a trail that leads to more quality, accessible beer. Tap Union has allowed us to pour many different beers in their bar, host events there and Chris, the owner, has helped us on many other levels (as a business owner and very competent brewer). This is not uncommon in this industry but goes on without enough thanks. So, to Tap Union and all the other breweries, tap rooms, bottles shops, restaurants, beer nerds and those who make having a brewery possible…. THANK YOU!”
